You Didn’t Hear It From Me

I’ve mentioned to you that American infrastructure is ranked number 11 in the world. I have said many times over that the state of our infrastructure impacts not only our industry, but also the ability of our industry to do business and compete with the companies and countries around the world who do invest in infrastructure.

I’m going to let someone else say it.

Recently at an event in Washington, D.C., hosted by Bloomberg Government, Marsha Hale, the president of Building America’s Future Educational Fund sat down for a videotaped discussion with Ray O’Connor, the president and CEO of Topcon Positioning Systems about infrastructure technology and innovation.

Here is the video. Ray O’Connor offers up some fascinating insight. As you watch, listen for these key words and phrases in the discussion: A long term plan, drones, D.C. traffic, the Band-Aid approach, autonomous vehicles, global competition, government mandates, building information technology (BIM), U.S. Congress, and finally, manufacturing jobs that will really “Make America Great Again.”

Do you think we need to institute specific mandates for infrastructure?
