Constructed Wetlands to Reduce Nutrients From Runoff in Croplands

| Wetlands have been shown to be an ­efficient way to remove nutrients and pesticides from cropland runoff. ­Appropriately positioned and sized wetlands can remove significant amounts of nutrients from agricultural runoff while restoring natural habitat and reducing flooding. Engineered treatment wetlands thus consist of a nature-based solution combined with an engineered solution.
