I find that in talking to friends, family, or acquaintances, there are still a great number of people who, when they think of heavy construction equipment, think of black smoke streaming from tall exhaust pipes while engines thunder so loud that nothing else can be heard. And they think of all the damage that’s being done by them to the environment.

But those of us in the industry know that progress has been made. It’s been made through emissions regulations, along with efficiency- and production-boosting technology. OEMs continue to push forward with hybrid-powered machines utilizing electric power in numerous ways.
